Blood coagulation pathway activation refers to the complex, tightly regulated process by which blood forms clots to stop bleeding (hemostasis) following vascular injury. This process involves a cascade of enzymatic reactions that activate specific plasma proteins (clotting factors), leading to the transformation of soluble fibrinogen into insoluble fibrin, which stabilizes the platelet plug and forms a mature blood clot.
