Overview
The **aqueous plasma matrix** refers to the liquid portion of blood that acts as the primary extracellular matrix for blood cells. It is a straw-colored, viscous fluid that makes up approximately 55% of total blood volume. Plasma is composed of about 90-92% water, with the rest comprising proteins (mainly albumin, globulins, and fibrinogen), electrolytes, nutrients, hormones, waste products, and dissolved gases. Plasma supports the transport of substances throughout the body, maintains osmotic balance and pH, and provides a medium for immune responses and coagulation. However, it is not a drug target, receptor, or single molecular entity.
