Overview

BMS1 pseudogene 15 (BMS1P15) is a transcribed, unprocessed pseudogene located on chromosome 15q11.1[1][3][9]. It is related to the BMS1 ribosome biogenesis factor gene, which encodes a GTPase essential for 40S ribosomal subunit biogenesis, but BMS1P15 itself does not encode a functional protein[1][3][9]. There is no evidence that BMS1P15 serves as a therapeutic target, nor are there any known biological functions, disease associations, or drug interactions for this pseudogene[1][3][9][5]. BMS1P15 should not be confused with the protein-coding BMS1 gene (also called BMS1 ribosome biogenesis factor), which is involved in ribosome assembly and cellular processes, and is associated with certain human disorders[2][4][6][8]. As a pseudogene, BMS1P15 lacks functional protein product and is not classified within receptor, enzyme, transporter, or similar families relevant to drug targeting.
