Overview

BMS1 ribosome biogenesis factor pseudogene 14 (BMS1P14) is a transcribed unprocessed pseudogene located at chromosome 9:40505399-40566281[7]. It is classified as a pseudogene because it is closely related in sequence to the BMS1 gene, which encodes a ribosome biogenesis factor involved in assembly and export of ribosomal subunits, but BMS1P14 itself does not encode a functional protein[3][5][7]. There are no well-documented biological processes, pathway roles, or disease associations for BMS1P14. It is neither a therapeutic target nor implicated in any specific drug interactions, biomarker studies, or safety concerns. The parental BMS1 gene participates in ribosome assembly and export from the nucleus, which are essential for protein synthesis. However, as a pseudogene, BMS1P14 does not perform these functions and does not encode an active protein product[3][5]. No evidence implicates BMS1P14 in regulatory RNA functions (e.g. as a non-coding RNA with regulatory effects), nor is it listed as a target in GWAS or drug databases[7].
