**BNC2 antisense RNA 1 (BNC2-AS1)** is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) belonging to the class of antisense RNAs, transcribed from the BNC2 locus on chromosome 9[1][7]. It is not a protein-coding gene but regulates gene expression by binding to sense transcripts or by modulating chromatin or transcriptional states in a cis-acting manner[2]. BNC2-AS1 may act as a positive regulator of BNC2 expression by targeting the enhancer and promoter regions of the gene[5], and has been implicated by association with cancers such as gastric adenocarcinoma[1]. As with other antisense lncRNAs, it is primarily considered a regulatory RNA rather than a canonical druggable target or receptor[2]. There are currently no known drugs that act directly on BNC2-AS1, though lncRNAs like this may have future potential both as biomarkers and as targets for RNA-based therapeutic modulation.
