BolA family member 3 pseudogene 1 (BOLA3P1) is a human pseudogene located on chromosome 11, classified as a retrocopy (processed pseudogene) of the BOLA3 gene. The parental BOLA3 gene is involved in iron-sulfur cluster biogenesis essential for mitochondrial function, but BOLA3P1 does not encode a functional protein. Like other pseudogenes, BOLA3P1 may participate in genomic regulation (e.g., by acting as a competitive endogenous RNA or affecting gene expression through small RNAs), but there is no direct evidence or functional characterization reported for BOLA3P1 specifically. BOLA3P1 is not recognized as a therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, transporter, or member of related protein-coding families.
