Bone marrow precursor cells

Molecular classification
Other (class of undifferentiated or partially differentiated cells), Hematopoietic progenitor cell (if specifically referring to hematopoietic lineages), Mesenchymal progenitor cell (when referring to stromal lineages)
01

Overview

Bone marrow precursor cells refer to immature, undifferentiated cells found within the bone marrow that are capable of further differentiation into distinct blood or stromal cell types. These cells include hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells, as well as mesenchymal stem and precursor cells, each defined by specific surface markers and differentiation potentials. They give rise to all mature blood cells (red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets) and various stromal elements and play essential roles in hematopoiesis, immunity, and tissue regeneration. Their dysregulation can contribute to a range of hematological diseases, including leukemias and bone marrow failure syndromes, and they are important sources for regenerative medicine and transplantation[3][7][2].
