Bone marrow stromal cell antigen 1 (CD157)

Target
CD157
Molecular classification
Ectoenzyme, GPI-anchored membrane protein, ADP-ribosyl cyclase family
01

Overview

Bone marrow stromal cell antigen 1 (CD157), also known as BST1, is a multifunctional cell surface molecule with both enzymatic and receptor activities. It catalyzes the conversion of NAD+ to cyclic ADP-ribose (cADPR) and acts as a receptor for extracellular matrix proteins like fibronectin. It plays roles in leukocyte migration, immune surveillance, and macrophage-mediated killing of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. CD157 is overexpressed in several diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis and acute myeloid leukemia (AML), and is being explored as a therapeutic target.
