Overview
Bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP-2) is a multi-functional growth factor and a member of the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) superfamily. It plays essential roles in embryonic development, bone formation, remodeling, and homeostasis in adulthood. Recombinant human BMP-2 (rhBMP-2) is used clinically to induce bone formation in orthopedic procedures.
