Target intelligence / Profile preview
Bone morphogenetic protein 6 pseudogene 1 (BMP6P1) is a human processed pseudogene located on chromosome 22 (GRCh37: 22,540,331-22,541,009). Unlike its parent gene BMP6—which encodes a signaling protein involved in bone and cartilage development—BMP6P1 does not produce a protein product and is classified as a non-functional or processed pseudogene. There is currently no evidence that BMP6P1 acts as a therapeutic target, biomarker, or disease modifier. While some pseudogenes have regulatory RNA potential, there are no published data supporting a functional role for BMP6P1 itself in human biology or disease.
