Bone morphogenetic protein receptor type 2 (BMPR2) is a transmembrane serine/threonine kinase receptor that belongs to the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) superfamily. It plays a critical role in cellular signaling, development, and disease by binding bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs) and activating SMAD transcription factors. Mutations in BMPR2 are associated with pulmonary arterial hypertension and other diseases.
