Overview

Osteoblastic lesions are areas of abnormal bone tissue characterized by increased formation and activity of osteoblasts. This results in denser, sclerotic regions within the bone that can be visualized on imaging studies. Osteoblastic lesions commonly arise in the context of metastatic cancer, Paget's disease or fracture healing and are marked by excessive and often disorganized new bone growth due to abnormal stimulation of osteoblasts.
