Filamentous hemagglutinin (FHA) is a large, cell surface-associated and secreted protein produced by the bacterium *Bordetella pertussis*, the causative agent of whooping cough. FHA functions primarily as an adhesin, facilitating bacterial attachment to host epithelial cells and contributing significantly to the organism’s virulence. It is secreted via the two-partner secretion (TPS) pathway and is a key antigen in acellular pertussis vaccines.
