Boron Neutron Capture (BNCT) is a cancer therapy that exploits the nuclear reaction between non-radioactive boron-10 (^10B) and neutrons to selectively destroy tumor cells. The process involves administering a ^10B-containing compound that preferentially accumulates in the tumor, followed by irradiation with low-energy neutrons. Neutron capture by ^10B results in the emission of high-LET alpha particles and lithium nuclei with short ranges, causing localized cell death.
