Borrelia burgdorferi Antigen

Molecular classification
Lipoprotein, Surface Protein, Adhesin, Flagellin
01

Overview

Borrelia burgdorferi antigens are molecular components (primarily proteins) of the Lyme disease-causing bacterium that are recognized by the host immune system. These antigens, including surface lipoproteins, flagellin, OspC, DbpA, VlsE, and BBF01, elicit antibody responses and are used as diagnostic markers. Antigenic variation allows B. burgdorferi to evade the immune system, complicating diagnosis and treatment.
