Overview

BOS complex subunit NOMO2 (NODAL modulator 2, NOMO2) is a membrane-associated protein involved as a component of the multi-pass translocon (MPT) complex, which mediates the insertion of multi-pass membrane proteins into the lipid bilayer of cellular membranes, particularly in the endoplasmic reticulum[1][10][2][3]. This protein is not a canonical therapeutic target such as a receptor or enzyme; instead, it plays a role as part of the cellular machinery responsible for membrane protein biogenesis. NOMO2 is also implicated in the Nodal signaling pathway during vertebrate development[1][6]. While it has been annotated in the proximity of disease loci, there is no strong evidence implicating it directly as a disease-driving protein or druggable target. **Note on context:** NOMO2 is not generally considered a therapeutic target (such as a druggable receptor or enzyme) in current biomedical practice or research[1][10].
