Botulinum neurotoxin serotype B (BoNT/B) is a highly potent neurotoxic protein produced by Clostridium botulinum. It functions as a zinc-dependent metalloprotease, cleaving synaptobrevin (VAMP), a SNARE protein essential for neurotransmitter release, thus inhibiting acetylcholine exocytosis and causing flaccid paralysis.
