Botulinum neurotoxin type G (BoNT/G) is a potent neurotoxin produced by *Clostridium botulinum*. It functions as a zinc-dependent metalloprotease that cleaves VAMP/synaptobrevin, a SNARE protein essential for acetylcholine release at neuromuscular junctions. This cleavage disrupts vesicle fusion, leading to flaccid paralysis. BoNT/G binds to neurons via Synaptotagmin I and gangliosides. While less frequently implicated in human botulism compared to other serotypes, its extreme toxicity makes it a significant potential biothreat.
