Target intelligence / Profile preview
BPIFB9P (BPI fold containing family B member 9, pseudogene) is a pseudogene in humans, located on chromosome 20, and belongs to the BPIFB (BPI fold containing family B) gene family, part of the larger BPI/LBP/PLUNC superfamily[2][3][5]. These gene families encode structurally related proteins in other cases that function in innate immunity. However, BPIFB9P does not encode a functional protein and has no known biological, disease, or therapeutic significance in humans[5]. What appears as pseudogenes in humans may be functional genes in other species[3][4]. There are no known drugs, biomarkers, or clinical concerns associated with BPIFB9P in the current scientific literature[2][5]. In summary, BPIFB9P is only a pseudogene—not a functional molecule or therapeutic target in humans[2][5].
