BRI3P2 (Brain protein I3 pseudogene 2) is annotated as a human pseudogene, not a protein-coding gene, and does not encode a functional protein product[1]. The canonical gene (BRI3, Brain Protein I3) is distinct and represents the protein-coding gene related to innate immune pathways and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF)-induced cell death[2][6]. Pseudogenes like BRI3P2 may appear in transcriptome datasets or genomic studies but lack functional protein expression. There is no evidence for therapeutic targeting, pharmacological interaction, or established involvement in human disease. Recent genomics research highlights pseudogenes can sometimes have non-coding RNA functions or may act as regulatory genetic elements in rare cases[7].
