Brain protein I3 pseudogene 3 (BRI3P3)

Target
BRI3P3
Molecular classification
Pseudogene

Overview

Brain protein I3 pseudogene 3 (BRI3P3) is a human pseudogene, not a protein-coding gene. Pseudogenes are DNA sequences similar to functional genes but are typically nonfunctional, often containing disabling mutations that prevent protein expression. Some pseudogenes can exert regulatory functions in the genome, such as acting as competing endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs) or decoys for microRNAs, but there is no specific evidence that BRI3P3 performs such roles. BRI3P3 does not encode a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other classical therapeutic target class, and there are no drugs or direct disease associations definitively linked to it[2][5][6].
