Overview
BRCA1 interacting helicase 1 (BRIP1), also known as FANCJ, is a DNA helicase critical for maintaining genomic stability. As a member of the RecQ DEAH helicase family, it interacts with BRCA1 and participates in homologous recombinational repair. Mutations in BRIP1 are associated with increased risk for ovarian and breast cancer, as well as Fanconi anemia group J. It functions as a tumor suppressor and impacts neuronal health by protecting against oxidative stress.
