Overview

Breakpoint cluster region pseudogene 4 (BCRP4) is a putative human pseudogene related to the breakpoint cluster region (BCR) gene. Pseudogenes such as BCRP4 are usually defined as non-coding genomic elements that share sequence similarity with functional genes but lack capacity to encode functional proteins due to disruptive mutations or regulatory differences. Pseudogenes may sometimes play a role in gene regulation through non-coding RNA mechanisms, but there is currently no evidence for a specific function, disease relevance, or drug target potential for BCR pseudogene 4. It should not be considered a therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, transporter, or biomarker based on current knowledge[8].
