Overview

Breast carcinoma amplified sequence 3 (BCAS3) is a cytoskeletal protein highly expressed in breast cancer, where its gene is frequently amplified and overexpressed. It regulates angiogenesis and mediates endothelial cell migration and polarity, at least in part by modulating Cdc42 activation and interacting with microtubules. BCAS3 is also a transcriptional coactivator of estrogen receptor alpha (ER-α) and is involved in histone acetylation, supporting a role in both cell migration and gene regulation. Its overexpression is mainly linked to hormone-responsive and angiogenic tumors, and it is implicated in a positive feedback loop that amplifies ER-α signaling in breast malignancies.
