BET family proteins (BRD2, BRD3, BRD4, and BRDT) are epigenetic regulators characterized by two tandem bromodomains and an extra-terminal (ET) domain. The bromodomains bind acetylated lysine residues on histone tails, influencing chromatin structure and gene transcription. The ET domain mediates protein-protein interactions. BET proteins play roles in cell cycle control, development, and are implicated in diseases such as cancer and viral infections, making them therapeutic targets.
