Bromodomain and Extra-Terminal Domain (BET) family protein (BET protein)

Target
BET protein
Molecular classification
Transcription factor, Epigenetic regulator, Bromodomain containing protein
01

Overview

BET family proteins (BRD2, BRD3, BRD4, and BRDT) are epigenetic regulators characterized by two tandem bromodomains and an extra-terminal (ET) domain. The bromodomains bind acetylated lysine residues on histone tails, influencing chromatin structure and gene transcription. The ET domain mediates protein-protein interactions. BET proteins play roles in cell cycle control, development, and are implicated in diseases such as cancer and viral infections, making them therapeutic targets.
