Overview
Bromodomain-containing proteins of the BET family are a group of epigenetic regulators characterized by the presence of two tandem bromodomains (BDI and BDII) and an extra-terminal (ET) domain. The main mammalian members are BRD2, BRD3, BRD4, and the testis-specific BRDT. These proteins function as "readers" of acetylated lysine residues on histones and other proteins, playing a central role in chromatin targeting and gene transcription regulation.
