Bromodomain-containing protein 9 (BRD9)

Target
BRD9
Molecular classification
Bromodomain protein, Transcription factor, Epigenetic reader
01

Overview

Bromodomain-containing protein 9 (BRD9) is an epigenetic reader that recognizes acetylated lysines on histones and other proteins. It recruits the non-canonical BAF (ncBAF) chromatin remodeling complex to regulate gene transcription. BRD9 is implicated in cancer biology, with elevated expression observed across multiple tumor types, influencing tumor proliferation and differentiation. Small molecule inhibitors targeting the bromodomain of BRD9 are under development as potential therapeutic agents, especially for cancers with SWI/SNF complex mutations or dysregulation.
