Bronchial Mucosa

Molecular classification
Epithelial Tissue, Mucous Membrane
01

Overview

The bronchial mucosa is the mucous membrane lining the bronchi, serving as a protective barrier and playing a critical role in mucociliary clearance, immune defense, and airway humidification. It is composed of specialized epithelial cells, including ciliated cells, goblet cells, Clara cells and brush cells, supported by a basement membrane and lamina propria. Pathological changes in the bronchial mucosa are central to diseases such as asthma and COPD.
