BRPF3 antisense RNA 1 (BRPF3-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed from the antisense strand of the BRPF3 gene locus. BRPF3-AS1 has not been characterized as a protein, receptor, enzyme, or canonical drug target. Antisense RNAs like BRPF3-AS1 typically function by regulating the expression of overlapping or neighboring sense genes through a variety of mechanisms, often modulating transcription, splicing, or chromatin state at the site of their synthesis (cis regulation), or possibly at distant loci (trans regulation)[6]. BRPF3-AS1 itself is not considered a standard therapeutic target, and there is currently no evidence of specific drugs targeting this RNA, nor direct links to major diseases reported in the available sources. Its biological function is presumed to involve regulation of the BRPF3 gene, which encodes a scaffold protein for histone acetyltransferase complexes involved in chromatin modification and DNA replication regulation[1][2][4][6]. BRPF3-AS1 requires further research to fully elucidate its functional roles and disease relevance.
