BSG antisense RNA 1 (BSG-AS1) is a naturally occurring long non-coding antisense RNA transcript complementary to the BSG gene. As an lncRNA, BSG-AS1 is not translated into protein. General functions of antisense RNAs include modulation of gene expression through RNA-RNA and epigenetic interactions[1][7]. BSG-AS1 has been implicated in the regulation of biological events such as cell growth or differentiation, and its differential expression is associated with certain cancers, notably hepatocellular carcinoma[1][2].
