Overview

BSN antisense RNA 1 (BSN-AS1) is a long noncoding RNA transcribed from the antisense strand of the BSN gene locus. Like other antisense RNAs, BSN-AS1 may have regulatory roles in gene expression at the level of transcription, mRNA stability, or chromatin remodeling, yet its specific biological activities and relevance in disease remain poorly characterized. Antisense RNAs overall have emerged as important modulators of epigenetic regulation and potential contributors to cancer or other diseases, mostly through epigenetic silencing or activation pathways, but direct functional or therapeutic evidence for BSN-AS1 is lacking. Note: The principal challenge with BSN-AS1 is a lack of sufficient scientific literature confirming it as a druggable or disease-associated therapeutic target. It should primarily be considered a long noncoding antisense RNA of regulatory relevance.
