BTB and CNC homology 1 (BACH1)

Target
BACH1
Molecular classification
Transcription factor, bZip transcription factor
01

Overview

BTB and CNC homology 1 (BACH1) is a transcription factor that functions as both a transcriptional repressor and activator, depending on cellular context. It is involved in various biological processes, including heme homeostasis, redox regulation, cell cycle control, hematopoiesis, and immunity. Dysregulation of BACH1 has been implicated in diseases such as acute myeloid leukemia, breast cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, and ferroptosis. It interacts with small Maf proteins and pluripotency factors.
