Overview

Bublin coiled-coil protein (BBLN) is an essential protein for intermediate filament organization in intestinal cells, where it interacts with intermediate filaments and plays a role in regulating the morphology of the intestinal lumen. BBLN is involved in intermediate filament bundle assembly and acts as a molecular adaptor. It is found at cell junctions, within polymeric cytoskeletal fibers, and the subapical region of the cell. While its primary functions relate to cytoskeletal organization and epithelial cell structure, there is currently no evidence to suggest that BBLN is a direct therapeutic target, nor are there known drugs or mechanisms of action involving this protein in clinical use[1][3][6][7][8].
