Overview

BUD31 homolog pseudogene 2 (BUD31P2) is a pseudogene related to the BUD31 gene, which encodes a component of the spliceosome. Pseudogenes like BUD31P2 are generally considered non-functional DNA sequences that arise from gene duplication or retrotransposition events and lack the capability to produce functional protein products. There is no evidence in the biomedical literature that BUD31P2 is an expressed protein, receptor, enzyme, or any other molecule traditionally targeted in drug discovery or used clinically. Its parent gene, BUD31, is a recognized spliceosomal factor with roles in cell cycle regulation, apoptosis, and cancer progression, but BUD31P2 itself does not play an active biological role[1][2]. BUD31P2 is not a functional target for drug discovery or a protein of biological interest. It should be noted as incorrect for therapeutic target queries; instead, investigations should reference BUD31 (the spliceosomal splicing factor) when seeking information on function, disease roles, or drug interactions.
