Target intelligence / Profile preview
Burkholderiales is an order of Gram-negative, aerobic, rod-shaped bacteria within the class Betaproteobacteria and the phylum Pseudomonadota. It includes both environmentally significant bacteria and pathogens affecting plants, animals, and humans. Pathogenic members, particularly in the genera Burkholderia and Bordetella, can cause severe infections such as melioidosis and whooping cough, and some members exhibit natural resistance to common antibiotics. Despite their medical and environmental importance, Burkholderiales is a taxonomic rank representing a group of bacteria rather than a molecular target or therapeutic receptor
