Overview
C-C motif chemokine ligand 19 (CCL19) is a small secreted cytokine belonging to the CC chemokine family that functions as a chemoattractant for immune cells, particularly T cells and B cells[1][3][4]. It is abundantly expressed in thymus and lymph nodes and plays a pivotal role in lymphocyte recirculation and homing by binding to the chemokine receptor CCR7[1][3][6]. CCL19 is essential for immune surveillance, the regulation of adaptive immune responses, and the organization of lymphoid tissue microenvironments. Its expression correlates with favorable prognosis in certain cancers and it is being investigated as a prognostic and predictive biomarker as well as a potential therapeutic target in oncology and immune-mediated diseases[4][9][1].
