c-Met receptor (MET)

Target
MET
Molecular classification
Receptor, Receptor Tyrosine Kinase
01

Overview

The c-Met receptor, also known as hepatocyte growth factor receptor (HGFR), is a receptor tyrosine kinase that plays a crucial role in cell proliferation, survival, and motility. It is activated by its ligand hepatocyte growth factor (HGF), leading to downstream signaling cascades such as MAPK/RAS, PI3K/AKT, and STAT pathways. Dysregulation of c-Met signaling is implicated in various cancers, making it an important therapeutic target. Aberrant activation can occur through genetic mutations, gene amplification, protein overexpression, or increased HGF expression.
