Overview
The c-MYC proto-oncogene protein is a nuclear phosphoprotein and a member of the basic helix-loop-helix leucine zipper (bHLH-LZ) family of transcription factors. It plays a central role in regulating cell cycle progression, apoptosis, cellular transformation, and metabolism. Abnormalities involving MYC are implicated in many human cancers.
