C-reactive protein pseudogene 1 (CRPP1) is a noncoding genetic sequence with high similarity to the functional C-reactive protein gene (CRP), but contains mutations or truncations that prevent it from encoding a functional protein. Pseudogenes like CRPP1 are generally transcriptionally inactive, though some pseudogenes in the genome can act as regulators of their parental protein-coding genes either by generating small interfering RNAs (siRNAs) or functioning as competitive endogenous RNAs (ceRNAs) at the RNA level[4]. For CRPP1, no validated regulatory function or association with diseases or drug interactions has been published, and it is not considered a molecular drug target. CRPP1 should not be confused with the functional CRP gene, which encodes C-reactive protein, a clinically relevant inflammatory marker and immune modulator[1][3]. CRPP1 is a pseudogene and not a therapeutic or analytical molecular target. There are no known drugs, mechanisms, biomarkers, or disease roles uniquely associated with this pseudogene, and it does not directly encode any protein or receptor[4].
