C-type lectin domain family 1 member A is a cell surface protein encoded by the CLEC1A gene in humans. As a member of the C-type lectin/C-type lectin-like domain (CTL/CTLD) superfamily, this protein is characterized by its ability to bind carbohydrates in a calcium-dependent manner. CLEC1A participates in a variety of functions including regulation of dendritic cell activity, immune response, cell adhesion, cell signaling, and control of glycoprotein turnover[1][5][6][8]. It is located in the natural killer gene complex on chromosome 12p13 and may function in modulating inflammation and immune-mediated responses. No clinically approved drugs or established biomarkers for CLEC1A are reported, and therapeutic targeting efforts are largely preclinical.
