Overview

C-type lectin domain family 2 member B (CLEC2B) is a type 2 transmembrane protein encoded by the CLEC2B gene in humans. It belongs to the C-type lectin/C-type lectin-like domain superfamily, found predominantly in lymphoid tissues and hematopoietic cell types. CLEC2B functions as a cell activation antigen involved in cell adhesion, signaling, and glycoprotein turnover as well as mediating inflammatory and immune responses. Its main known ligand interaction is with the natural killer cell receptor NKp80 (KLRF1), participating in the activation of NK cells and possibly contributing to innate immunity and immunopathology within the tumor microenvironment or in the context of infection[1][2][7]. No approved therapeutics are known to directly target CLEC2B at this time.

Safety considerations

Immunomodulation may carry risks of immune dysregulation or excessive inflammation if targeted; safety profile unknown due to absence of clinical compounds targeting this molecule[6]
06

Biomarkers

CLEC2B expression in lymphoid tissues and hematopoietic cells may serve as a biomarker for immune cell activation or inflammation[2][7]
