Overview

C-type lectin domain family 3 member A (CLEC3A) is a **cartilage-specific member** of the C-type lectin superfamily, structurally related to tetranectin. CLEC3A predominantly exists as a monomer but can form dimers and trimers through protein–protein interactions and chondroitin/dermatan sulfate modifications. It is distributed in growth plate cartilage, playing a role in the extracellular matrix network by binding to plasminogen and enhancing tissue plasminogen activator (tPA)-mediated plasminogen activation. This suggests CLEC3A contributes to extracellular proteolytic activity and cartilage remodeling, but it is not a therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, transporter, or classical drug target[1][2][3].
