Overview

C-type lectin receptors (CLRs) are a large superfamily of pattern-recognition receptors that recognize carbohydrate structures on pathogens and self-antigens. They are primarily expressed on myeloid cells and play a central role in innate and adaptive immunity. CLR signaling leads to the activation of downstream pathways such as SYK, NF-κB, and MAPK, resulting in the production of cytokines, phagocytosis, and other cellular responses. CLRs are implicated in various diseases, including infection, cancer, autoimmunity, and allergy, making them potential targets for therapeutic intervention.
