Target intelligence / Profile preview
C10orf95 antisense RNA 1 (C10orf95-AS1/RPARP-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA gene found on human chromosome 10. It is characterized by multiple transcript variants, none of which encode a protein[2]. Functionally, this lncRNA is upregulated in certain tumor types such as osteosarcoma and colorectal cancer, where it acts as an oncogene, enhancing cell proliferation, migration, and invasion while inhibiting apoptosis[1]. Mechanistically, it regulates lipid metabolism by modulating the Akt/mTOR pathway and downstream genes such as SCD1 and ADH1C, and affects epithelial-mesenchymal transition. Experimental data indicate that suppression (siRNA-mediated knockdown) of RPARP-AS1 in tumor cells can impede proliferation and promote apoptosis. Given its expression in a range of cancers and possible links to metabolic reprogramming, it is of emerging interest as a biomarker and novel therapeutic target. However, C10orf95-AS1 itself is a non-protein coding RNA, not a conventional receptor, enzyme, transporter, or transcription factor[2][1].
Not applicable (no drugs identified). However, experimental knockdown by siRNAs inhibits proliferation and induces apoptosis in cultured tumor cells[1].
