C1D nuclear receptor corepressor pseudogene 3 (C1DP3, bA369J21.2) is a human pseudogene related to the C1D nuclear receptor corepressor gene[2]. Unlike protein-coding genes, pseudogenes such as C1DP3 do not produce functional proteins, and their roles are often uncharacterized. Though some pseudogenes can act as regulatory elements at the RNA level (e.g., as miRNA decoys or ceRNAs that modulate expression of parent genes), there is currently no evidence that C1DP3 has such a function or clinical relevance as a biomarker or therapeutic target[1][3]. The parent gene C1D encodes a nuclear protein involved in RNA metabolism and DNA damage response, but these functions do not extend to the C1DP3 pseudogene[4][6].
