C1GALT1P2 (C1GALT1 pseudogene 2) is a non-coding pseudogene related to the functional C1GALT1 gene, which encodes core 1 β1,3-galactosyltransferase (T-synthase). Pseudogenes like C1GALT1P2 arise from duplication or retrotransposition events and typically lack the ability to produce a functional protein. Unlike C1GALT1, which is a key enzyme in mucin-type O-glycosylation with major biological and disease roles[1][2][3], C1GALT1P2 itself is not a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or recognized therapeutic target and does not appear to have any biological, pathological, or pharmacological significance. Therefore, it is not considered a molecular target for drug development.
