C2 calcium-dependent domain-containing protein 4C (C2CD4C) is a protein encoded by the C2CD4C gene in humans. The protein contains a C2 domain, which is recognized as a calcium-dependent membrane-targeting module found in a variety of proteins involved in signaling pathways and membrane trafficking. However, the specific biological function of C2CD4C remains unknown, and no direct molecular activity, physiological roles, or implications in disease have been experimentally confirmed to date[2][3][5][9][10]. C2CD4C is predicted to be localized in the cytosol and is expressed in several tissues including the pancreas[1][6]. This gene has several aliases, most notably FAM148C, KIAA1957, and Nuclear-localized factor 3[5][10]. There are currently no drugs, biomarkers, or therapeutic applications associated with this target. Mouse knockout models exhibit decreased body weight but normal pancreas development and glucose homeostasis, indicating potential, though unconfirmed, developmental or metabolic importance[8].
