Overview

C4BPA pseudogene 2 (C4BPAP2) is a pseudogene closely related to the protein-coding complement component 4 binding protein alpha (C4BPA) gene, which is involved in regulation of the classical pathway of the complement system—a critical part of immune response and inflammation. However, as a pseudogene, C4BPAP2 itself does not code for a functional protein and is currently not considered biologically active, nor is it a therapeutic target, nor associated with any known disease, mechanism of action, or biomarker[2][4]. The more widely studied functional gene in this family (C4BPA) has roles in coagulation, immunity, and lipid metabolism regulation, but C4BPAP2 does not play these roles[2][4]. There are no known drugs or therapies that target C4BPAP2, and no evidence for clinical relevance, disease association, or involvement in biological pathways beyond its status as a genomic pseudogene. It is also not a canonical target for drug discovery or clinical biomarkers. If you are seeking information on a therapeutically relevant target, the functional gene C4BPA (complement component 4 binding protein alpha) is the appropriate entity and not the pseudogene C4BPAP2[2][4].
