Overview

CA3 antisense RNA 1 (CA3-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) gene located on human chromosome 8[2][5]. It acts as a regulatory molecule involved in a variety of cellular processes, including cell proliferation, apoptosis, and differentiation[2]. CA3-AS1 functions at the RNA level, exerting its effects through interactions with proteins and mRNA, such as recruitment of chromatin-modifying complexes like EZH2, which can lead to the silencing of specific target genes[2]. Emerging evidence suggests its dysregulation contributes to cancer and possibly other diseases, but it is not considered a classical therapeutic target (e.g., receptor, enzyme, transporter), nor are any drugs currently known to directly interact with it[2][5]. Note: - There is no evidence CA3-AS1 encodes a protein, acts as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other traditional "therapeutic target" classes. - Its main relevance is as a regulatory lncRNA in gene expression and disease association, not as a direct drug target.
